Tovuti CEO Troy McClain Honored as a Top CEO in Idaho

McClain is a former finalist on NBC-TV’s The Apprentice, a globally recognized professional speaker and trainer, and a serial entrepreneur with two seven-figure exits to his name

BOISE, ID – Tovuti, the nation’s fast-growing learning experience platform, today announced that its CEO, Troy McClain, has been honored as a top CEO for the state of Idaho by the Idaho Business Review.troy ceo influence

Last week McClain joined a select group of Idaho’s top leaders as they were honored by the Idaho Business Review as 2019’s CEOs of Influence. The other finalists included Brent Taylor (Wyakin Foundation), Nick Schlekeway (Amherst Madison), Bruce Wong (Ada County Highway District), Charlene Maher (Blue Cross of Idaho), Nora J. Carpenter (United Way of Treasure Valley), David L. Duro (Treasure Valley Family YMCA), Tricia Swartling (The Advocates for Survivors of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault), and Paris Cole (Truckstop.com).

In addition to being a serial entrepreneur with two seven-figure exits, McClain, 48, is also a globally recognized professional speaker and trainer, and a philanthropist focused on helping those with special needs and supporting veterans.

Many will remember McClain as America’s favorite underdog on the first season of NBC-TV’s The Apprentice. McClain’s cowboy hat and midwestern drawl was a stark contrast to the suit-wearing, Ivy-League MBAs he was competing against. His street smarts, innovative thinking and resourcefulness propelled McClain to a finalist slot on the show, but he was eventually fired for a lack education.

His newest endeavor – a cloud-based solution for creating, delivering and tracking training online – aims to make lack of education a thing of the past, by expanding access to education and training through the use of technology.

“I didn’t have the opportunity to pursue a college education, but it didn’t keep me from gaining the knowledge and building the skills necessary to better myself and my community. I just had to do it the hard way,” McClain said. “The mission behind Tovuti is to make it easier for people to advance by making knowledge transfer more efficient. We strongly feel that no matter the problem, education is the answer.”

With McClain at the helm, Tovuti has quickly exploded onto Boise’s already-hot tech scene, posting triple-digit growth numbers in recent months.

According to Tovuti COO Tina Upson, much of that success has come from McClain’s innovative thinking, drive to give back, and a motivational style of leadership that has helped Tovuti quickly build a team of A+ players.

“Troy has created an environment that attracts the right people and motivates them to perform at a high level,” Upson said. “Our team fully buys into Troy’s philosophy on giving back, on being honest, moral and ethical, and to making a commitment to uplift, inspire and serve. When you inspire people like that, you’re going to be successful, no matter what you set your mind to.”
