Mhako introduces online arts training

Germany-based arts critic and journalist Plot Mhako has introduced an online Learning Management System (LMS) meant to assist local artistes with knowledge and skills on mastering music as business, according to MSN News. Mhako, who is also the founder and projects director of local dance outfit Jibilika Dance Trust, said the LMS, which is more of an academy, seeks to close the knowledge and skills gap on the music and arts scene. He said the syllabus would cover production, artistes, management, marketing, distribution, visuals and anything related to the business of music. Mhako said the arts sector in Zimbabwe was shrinking, resulting in the dearth of knowledge and skills among artistes and those that manage them. “Our [local arts] industry suffers from stunted growth and we have a handful of artistes who have managed to create viable business models around their music,” Mhako said. SSA adopts a Learning Management System

Through an agreement forged with Canadian software company Marine Learning Systems, the Steamship Authority has begun to implement a major recommendation of the HMS Consulting report — a Learning Management System or LMS.
